Beinecke Library Renovation

The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library’s iconic building is closed for renovation until September 2016. We have opened a temporary reading room in Yale’s Sterling Memorial Library, located directly across Wall Street from the Beinecke.

Due to constraints caused by the renovation, it will take longer than normal to page items and some collections may be temporarily unavailable. Please request materials online at least two business days in advance. As always, consult the closed collections schedule when planning a research visit.

The renovation will overhaul the library’s 50-year-old mechanical systems and enhance its teaching and research facilities. We invite you to learn more about the project, and follow our progress as we prepare the library for another 50 years as a world-class center of research and scholarship.
